  • We stayed at the Wilderness Inn in North Woodstock, eight miles from Cannon and three from Loon. A 1912 green-shingled house built by a lumber baron, the Inn is within walking distance of village restaurants. Tea and mulled cider (are served) by the fireplace… breakfasts (pancakes, crepes, French toast, omelets) are large and homemade.” From nearby Cannon Mountain, “views over Echo Lake, Franconia Notch, and the northern reaches of the White Mountain National Forest are the most beautifully rugged I’ve seen in the Northeast…A skiing-at-the-top-of-the-world feeling comes in here too.
